Hello guys, I'd like to discuss how I feel like in some places people just hate anime watchers. I don't know why but people tend to have extreme views on anime and either love it or hate it. At my school, most kids hate anime and think anyone who watches it is weird. I can somewhat understand where there feelings may come from, because we have this (LITERALLY) autistic kid who is obsessed with Naruto and has (at school gatherings) taken his earbuds and swung them like nunchunks and shouted "I WILL BE HOKAGE" until a teacher came over and stopped him. Often, by the people that know how much I watch anime tell me I'm a "fucking weird ass nigga" for watching anime. Honestly I feel like instead of a closet gay I'm a closet anime watcher.
Does anyone get similar experiences to this where they live?

People hate shit and like other shit. Who cares.
I've yet to meet anyone irl that treats me any different for watching anime. That holds true for the girls I hook up with/talk to. Honestly just don't be weird and like fuckin Naruto run everywhere and you'll be fine.
I don't tell anyone IRL that I watch anime.

Well considering that where I live (America), 64% of people regularly watch professional football, that is a HIGHLY unlikely situation. Where do you live? I want to move there, seems like my kind of place.

I was just replacing the word anime with literally anything else. People like certain things and hate other things. Everyone has their own taste in media. You shouldn't care what others think about your hobbies. People will hate on anything.

It's because the average person is actually very tribalistic. Once they associate anime with something perceived as negative, they will hate it without any actual rationale.
It's the same way religious people are virulent towards homosexuals, or atheists.

I never see anyone make fun of people for liking anime in real life, it just seems like an internet thing. Some nerds just feel the need to make fun of other nerds to feel better about themselves.

I'm a closet weeb so I'm seen as normal. Once you get out of school people will accept you more, but right now there's kids in high school who want to be kew1 so they judge and berate others for their hobbies.
