Could somebody outline a list of fundamental factors involved in hacking as a guide for me to refer to or direct me to a previously made thread containing a comprehensive guide. Your help would be greatly appreciated!
A comprehensive hacking guide |
|
There are tons of different approaches to hacking. You want to have fundamentals of computing down. You'd want to learn to program. You'd want to learn reverse engineering. You'd want to learn to find and abuse buffer overflows. You'd to learn how to create exploits. You'd want to learn SQL (and SQLi). You'd want to learn cryptography. This list should probably be longer but from the top of my head I can't think of anything.
A comprehensive guide on hacking? Hacking is such a broad subject. You know how big a comprehensive guide would have to be?

Well over 40 pages so far lol and that is only relating to network hacking and with an expectation that the reader is rather advanced as is. There are many guides here you want to learn your networking and OSs if you are going to focus on web pentesting then learn some networking and then start learning how web technologies work. It's more like 10 books at the very least. (Oct 5, 2017 04:08 AM)Maxie Wrote: 40 pages is nothing. It's more like 10 books at the very least. A guide listing all the steps needed to perform plenty different attacks can be as short as 40 pages, much shorter in fact, but if as I hope OP would like to know the inner workings of those attacks instead of typing random commands without knowing what they do then 10 books are not nearly as enough. I own several hacking related books, and others about computer science, networking, and finally programming. I read them all and tried to learn as much as possible, but even then I never stop learning. This is why a decent 100% complete guide of hacking will never exist, technology goes forward so fast that even if it existed it would become outdated so soon it wouldn't even be worth it.
