I'm Canadian.
It's going to be my first time driving in winter, and I don't want to spend the 400$ on winter tires. Do I absolutely NEED winter tires?

No just be mindful of your driving (taking corners too fast etc). If it's snowing and there's ice on the ground it's a good idea to either have snow tires or chains. Most of the time you don't even need those though, only if you're in like a remote situation or something. Once the city scrapes the roads though you're good to go with normal tires.
Also most tires nowadays are "all season tires"

If you got 4WD or 4 Wheel Part Time you'll be good I guess. My jeep had Part time so it switched to 4WD when you're tires spin and it helps. The only issue about driving in snow isn't going from a stop -> going
going -> slowing/stopping down that'll fuck you up.
No need to be in a rush during the winter. Drive 5 under if it's snowing, even slower if its blizzard. It's not AS bad as you think, as long as you can control your car if it fish tails. Go in a parking lot and just slide around in the middle late at night. Learn what your car does if you take a turn to fast, stop too fast etc. Gotta be ready for anything out there.

If you have front wheel drive and not a lot of snow, definitely not. If you're expecting snow and have fwd, throw 2 snow tires on the back, or all four of you have rear wheel drive. Pretty sure awd should be treated as front wheel drive, but you would want all 4. Don't put two tires only on the tires that propel your car, e.g. snow tires in the back of rwd or the front tires in fwd.
I don't drop money on snow tires during the winter season and I have a FWD car. Just be mindful of the conditions, and take things slow. I'd also recommend what others have already suggested, find an empty parking lot, and practice counter steering, when you start fishtailing it means you're driving to fast, slow down and try your best to correct it. Practicing in a parking lot will help a lot.

Just go straight full on Initial D drifting
I would highly recommend getting a decent set of weather tires unless if you don't mind skating on the road. Seems quite dangerous to me though.

i whip the jeep in snow. snow is so fun when u can handle it
My summer alloy wheels will be removed this week and my winter alloys will be going on
When your driving a bmw m3 winter tyres are a must
(On a front wheel drive i wouldn't waste my money but on rear wheel drive cars it's a must )
As long as you have all season tires you don't need separate tires for winter. Summer tires will be destroyed by cold temps though. Prolonged freezing causes summer tires to wear extremely quickly.
It honestly depends on local weather, usage and style of roads. But strictly speaking you don't really need them.
What part of Canada and what do you drive? I live in Alberta and drive a RWD sports car and I absolutely need winters.

I grew up in a compact snow area: four wheel drive is not four wheel brake.. Chain up, slow down.. I've seen hundreds of cars with four wheel drive in the ditch here: four wheel drive is not double the brake speed, or traction.
Also don't chain up unless your on inproperly plowed roads, just slow down.. Also if you have a truck out gravel in the back
You can always take more. You can never take less. You can't throw up what's already in your bloodstream, and "high killing" drugs like benzos don't help when you took too much heroin or feel a pain in your left arm after coke. Go slow.

Its always a good idea to have winter tires, but they arent necessary as long as ur aware ur at a disadvantage and drive accordingly
