getting tracked by phone gps location?

Is it possible or does my car actually have a bug? I'm assuming since my "gps" feature on my phone is turned on is one way I can be tracked. I've checked thoroughly throughout my car for a "bug" but can't find any. I've thought of getting a bug detector as well (if they even work). My next assumption here is that my car's dashboard GPS can be tracked? But how? It's not exactly designed as a "phone GPS". Could my radio antenna be "traced"?

Is there an app to track someone by way of their phone, since everyone carries their phone with them 24/7, I'd assume that's one of the ways people are "tracked"?
Someone is paranoid, you're not planning anything that would be classified as "terrorist activity" are you?
Doubtful unless you're dealing drugs or something.
There are spy sites that sell bug detectors, and they do work.
You've assumed correctly.
Your phone can still be tracked via the cell towers it uses or pings reguardless of whether you have gps enabled.
Doubtful since it's ony a reciever for am/fm.
I see. And no to the other stuff. LOL. Just curious. So you're saying turning the phone off is the answer? I was curious why someone I know whose husband was cheating was able to be followed around by a P.I. I believe this was years ago before there were GPS features on the smart phones. This was when car GPS just came out and cost $300 for a Garmin i5.

Was he being tracked through his phone via the cell towers? Did that technology exist over 10 years ago? Or was it a bug?
Yes it existed, a phone that's off still pings towers.
Taking out the battery will prevent this.
