Can You Host Multiple Domains On One Droplet DigitalOcean?

Hi,

I've always used shared and reseller hosts and I'm looking at switching to a VPS.

I have zero experience in server management and very minimal experience in Linux and command line.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I'm having to move some websites over from my reseller account to a digitalocean VPS.

Can I host multiple websites and domains under one droplet? If so how?

Are there any guides step by step that show you how to setup a website on Ubuntu?

It all seems a lot more complex than normal shared/reseller hosting.

you can host as many as you want, a vps is just like a normal machine, you can host your own dns server and have as many domains as you want
i recommend you install a hosting panel like http://www.sentora.org/ for example, it'll install and do everything for you
just like a control panel you would have on a shared hosting you can add domains/websites/etc

you will find all the info you need on the above website, how to install/configure/get started/etc

Thanks for that.

So I've just installed Ubuntu on my droplet, do I just install Sentora now? Do I need to install anything else with it like mySQL, PHP, Apche etc or does that all come bundled with Sentora?

You should look into installing Apache:
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/t...untu-16-04
If you're running Linux then yeah you can run multiple sites off one VPS, I do the same with all small projects I have and there's no issues with them all.

What I had done is followed the below guide to setup the VPS
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/t...untu-16-04

And then to setup server blocks (multiple domains) I followed this
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/t...untu-16-04

Both guides are for Ubuntu 16.04

you just install sentora, it will install everything else for you :)

if you want a simpler solution you can just install apache/php/mysql and use an external dns hosting, your domain registrar might give you such service for free
you can host multiple websites/domains with apache virtual hosts, all you have to do is make new entries in the config files and link the domains with the ip of your vps

https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/vhosts/examples.html

tho i do recommend a control panel like sentora since it does everything for you
