Technology is changing everything.
Kids at the age of 7+ are getting access to tablets and smartphones resulting in them being addicted to it.
Spending an average of 4 hours a day :/
What age do you believe a child should have access to a phone or is it just something that depends on certain factors?

I don't think there should be an age limit, technology is advancing so quick and the technology on some of the applications actually help kids learn

I believe kids should have "no tablet" days because while what Zues said is true, it decreases the chances of social skills and results in less time with family and/or friends.
I don't think there's a specific minimum age. I think that the child should be given the phone when they will need it.
I didn't get my first phone until 12 years old. I wouldn't give my kid a phone, at least a smart phone until then.

That's actually true tbh.

Yeah I agree. My first phone was a flip phone when I was in 6th grade and I was with a flip phone till 8th grade.
I think age doesn't matter, however they should be responsible and mature enough.
Around the age of 12-14 in this day and age. Depends how much they need it honestly.
I know a kid who is 7 and has a iPhone plus. Obviously the parents ensure the phone has a lot of parental controls enabled, I've seen it myself and there isn't much he can do on it besides what is enabled. It depends on each individual child, if they are mentally mature enough to abide by the rules of having the responsibility of a phone, I believe its fine. You can enable all types of time restrictions and more.
Now I have seen a case of a 11 year old getting a brand new iPhone 7 plus when it came out, she was spoiled rotten and bossed her parents around. The parents didn't put any parental controls on it, now that is an accident waiting to happen.
It's a case by case basis. The child has to be ready and the parents have to be smart.

Yeah that's two different scenarios that are true.
I think 10 years old is reasonable
I dont think it matters when a child gets a phone or tablet,
but how the parents make the child spend his time.
ie. hanging out with friends, doing family things, etc.
If your family doesnt do shit then you are going to get bored and play on your phone.
there shouldn't be any restrictions at all, why so much control ?

I think kids should have a crappy phone that only makes calls and text and a PC at home.
If they want a phone then they can buy it themselves when they will have money to do so. Maybe they won't break them so easily then.
