What can i do make a weak pc faster

Hey, so i found an old toshiba pc in my house working fine only it has some low specs 1gb ram and an Intel pentium processor i only want to use it for hacking and stuff what can i do to make it give the most out of itself?
Um, check startup items, running programs and browser extensions to make sure they are needed. Or run Linux, that would also be a good idea.

Use linux as suggested by the user above me or if you prefer windows, reinstall it from scratch and run only programs that you actually need and trust.
Heck if you are comfortable with linux go for maybe MX Linux or Ubuntu Mate.
im gonna be the autist

-secure wipe pc
-install latest debian netinstall
-use a WINDOW MANAGER and for the love of god no DE.
-go full minimalist, mpv for video, feh for images, vim for text, terminal or ranger for file management, urxvt term

i personally like i3wm as a window manager but its preference, maybe tiling isnt what you want.

EDIT: completely forgot -- grub2 is complete bloat and has either meme or unneeded features that 99% of users dont use or are actually useless.

Definitely agree with everyone else here on the Linux install.

If you need to get the absolute most out of the laptop, I would look at a linux distro used for embedded systems or something that comes with a minimal amount of stuff included (Arch comes to mind), then you will not have as much using the RAM. You won't get a UI though, will just be terminal.

Other options include installing something more familiar and then pruning all the crap that the default installation comes with.
Make it minimalistic or simply do the linux install.
passin' by, no one noticed my angel wings
