Can someone check out a file for me for a hidden virus please

My sister received a phishing email that contained a docx file. She said she opened it on my computer. I have very sensitive information on my computer that I can not afford to be compromised. If someone could please check the file for any hidden virus that would be amazing. She might have only previewed it in Hotmail because I do not see a download of the file.

Ask her what she did, considering it doesn't look like she downloaded it and opened it. I might be able to help you though if you manage to send it over.
I can have a look at it for malicious code 🙂
I think that's why anti virus scanners were made..but sure i'll check it out for you.
In the meantime make sure to keep it disconnected from the internet just to be safe.

You can upload it to "reverse.it" google the query.

And run Vipre Rescue Scanner on your pc.

Also you could create a Veracrypt file container so your files are not instantly accessable to a virus (assuming the container is locked/your not using it)
You can check if there are any weird files connecting to the internet that shouldn't be. And if it seems concerning you can always find the file and upload it to VirusTotal or post it here (the MD5 and the file location/name) and we can help determine it's legitimacy as well.

I ran a full scan on my PC with Norton. Do you recommend any other AV or anything to do as a precauction?

Also I am not sure if this would help:

Try to run a full MWB scan as well, and do check your system for any suspicious process/start-up entry.

If there is a virus bound to the file, would previewing the file within Hotmail still execute it? It was not opened after downloaded
