Making a Java Web Browser

Just wondering if anyone is interested in this topic. Maybe get a few ideas of technologies to use. Hoping to just make this thread a conversation about how to get started making a web browser with java. I am going to be doing a lot of research on my own and will update the post with findings and new ideas.

My goal here is to make a web browser that is fully functional. There are 2 reasons that I am doing this. The first reason, and the main reason, is that I am trying to learn everything I can about web servers and clients. I could not think of a better way than to create my own browser. The 2nd reason is because I am obsessed with web crawling. I want to create a browser that is aimed not for browsing but as a tool to extract various amounts of information from a web page. Not only the actual information it displays, also everything behind the scenes.

I am aware that this all can be done with Chrome and a few plugins (really don't even need any). I just want to make an open source project that is completely interchangeable that people can take and do with as they please.

So please voice some opinions on technologies to use and any other things you can think of!
Sounds dope dude, super interesting for sure!

That sounds like a great concept, you could make it possible to have a browser which also can connect to a server hosted on linux or something where you can download the crawled data too, and with this server concept you could keep the connection alive and have the server auto-refresh to gather new information while you're not behind the browser your-self, and the tabs you open at your browser will then be send to the server and received when you open the browser again, its just pure HTML that can be stored as tabs, its very possible. Just throwing a few idea's. I like the idea but I have only very basic knowledge of Java.
I was trying to figure out how to use Google's API back a bit ago and the main thing that turned up on google for me was making a browser in Java. It actually seems pretty simple and I think all of the examples I found were using JavaFX to create a window and blah blah. IIRC there were libs to help insanely with this, for example the only thing I can recall, a hyperlink lib that parsed pages for hyperlinks
i think in one of the basic java books making a browser was one of the final projects at the end of the book. ik i'd never find that book nowdays bc my brain is so fried, but good luck dude. all that shits good.

i remember long time ago i was using like htmlapi type shit to make online crackers and shit. probably a shit way but it worked. maybe thatll have use to you but i doubt it bc gthere's probably bigger libs dedicated for browser type shit.

oh yea when you're making gui and all that shit look into like mvp (modelviewpresenter) or some shit pattern to making guis. its suposed to be great way to making uis and being very organized neat and great to use. when you make your browser ( if u dont use mvp or something similar) ull realize how fucking messy and disgusting al the gui code is. so basically the entire point im really trying to get across, which admittedly i did not have a point when first creating this rather short post, relative to the dude above me,was to tell you that you should use that mvp pattern type shit when you're making your gui. so your gui code can be clean. also, check out package management.a lot of people fuck up how they organize they're packages bc they never learned how.lots of fucking skids, like me. so look up like packaging by feature vs packaging by layer.you want to package by feature & not by layer but a lot of people fuck that up.

i rememebr using that link aand a few others when i first realized how much of a fucking moron i was for not doing that from the beginning. so check it out, that way you'll have less headache knowing how wonderfully you've packaged your project.and even more so on top of all of that, you can top it off with knowing you use the mvp pattern shit to make your gui code nice and as straightforward as possible,bc gui shit is just fucking annoying.

good luck,and happy new years
Cannot post links...
There is a source code under the post named "Source Some old SRC from my first year programming" by "OneHalf" where you can find inspiration.

Best of luck! :)
