So I'm quite excited to be bringing back an old forum of mine. It's quite a big forum so prior to the launch I'm going to be releasing a feature list of upcoming features, current features and features you may want to see on a potential forum. The reason of this list is to introduce fun and it's own type of on-site gaming to the forum (these are NOT the generic features of the forum). The forum will have a quite sophisticated credits and awards system which will more than likely make the casual browsing experience a lot more exciting, hence the emphasis on those two features in the list below. I'm making this thread more to get features you'd want to see on a forum. The end goal is to never get bored, never be static, and to keep moving.
- Awards and credits hooked into default forum functions (i.e avatar changing, market etc)
- Tag User Feature (Game)
- King/Queen Userbar Roulette (https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5678822)
- Daily Message Competition
- Buy/Gift Awards
- Steal or Split
The list includes only the features coded by me so not every fun feature is on there. I believe that forums are no longer about sharing content. Forums need to evolve into similar platforms like the overbearing Facebook and other social media sites, hence the fun factor definitely being apart of this forum.
Anywhooo, what would you like to see in a potentially great forum?

Glad to see you're interested. Feel free to suggest features you'd like to see in a forum and if it goes with the direction of the forum, I'll personally code it.

I'd recommend adding a more unique form of forum rather than the standard mybb look. Every mybb forum looks alike imo, so make yours stand out.

I think I'm going to wait for the upgrade of MyBB before I do something rash. I'm going to keep up with the changes so there's little point in doing something now; doesn't mean it won't look good in the meantime though :)

Yeah, most of HF's showcase forums all are saturated with MyBB look and feel. I personally prefer going to the XenForo route. They've exceeded expectations from the average forum user.

The same can be said for XF on an XF forum IMHO. Theme wise, I'm going to be completely rebuilding a new one after MyBB's update.

I remember you. You're doing the marketing right, building interest before release etc. That's good, I would recommend getting them all into a Skype group (or wherever people go) and notify them when it opens. After you get some active users here and there, go all out with advertisements and release to the public.
