International action against Remote Access Trojan

This message is from the UK's National Crime Agency and the South West Regional Cyber Crime Unit.

We are posting to inform you of law enforcement action against the developers, distributors and customers of the Luminosity Link Remote Access Trojan.

Deploying a Remote Access Trojan is illegal in UK law under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. It is also illegal in many other countries.

Investigators developed more than 490 intelligence packages and since September 2017 search warrants, arrests and cease & desist notifications have been conducted across Europe, Australia and America:

The National Crime Agency and law enforcement partners will continue to pursue those who develop, distribute, purchase and use such tools for a criminal purpose.

The consequences of using such tools could be:
  • Arrest, fines and/or imprisonment.

  • Court orders that could limit your internet access.

  • A criminal record that could affect your education and career prospects

Well, I think they were only able to limit it to Luminosity. Deploying a RAT should not be illegal be default.
For anyone wondering:

There goes 80% of the skids down with Luminosity lmao
I sometimes come around and poke a few threads before leaving for a few months again.
Another sticky for the NCA. Lessons learned.
That rep tho 🤣 🤣 🤣
This really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

Agreed, this warning is great and all, but relatively useless.

Anyone who is deploying a RAT knows it's illegal (unless they have no idea how to read).

Hopefully, Orcus Technologies will still stay a thing.
I'm quite sure that the majority of users enter this subject aware that they are violating international laws.
But, I do have a question for you. How would the owner be prosecuted if he was in a remote country but caught? I'm not testing your knowledge, this is real curiosity.

It depends on how you're using it, If you're using it for personal and educational use then yea, having a RAT is perfectly fine, if you're using it to do what most of the kids done with Lumonisty then, have fun getting buttfucked in jail.

I too lack the optical organ known as oculus uterque.
My gott, the Phallic Mother!

Probably the only postmodern neo-marxist who exists.

Please explain what an "international law" is, who enforces them, and where we can read what laws are being violated.

Treaties between countries. Look up "extradition".

Well I wish the best of luck to the people that will inevitably get scooped up because they left a trail of breadcrumbs leading directly to them. Times are changing, this is rough I haven’t seen this much heat in a very long time.
