Me and a mate have been working on this Subscribe/Like/Follow to Unlock URL Shortener.
I've put quite some effort into the design and made sure not to use any frameworks such as Bootstrap or Materialize.

Finally a decent looking and functioning website in the showcase subforum.
This website looks great and the idea behind it is perfect.

But the only con is when people find out they can easily "bypass" it by simply clicking on the step link and closing the tab afterwards to continue.

Haha thanks :) Yeah, I also noticed that 99% of the sites posted here are low effort bootstrap pages or wordpress and blogger blogs.

Anyway, about the bypass. While you are right that clever people will realize that a tab change can also trigger the step completion, we did put a small cooldown in place to filter out people who change tabs too quickly, so there is that ^^. A small percentage will probably still figure out the mechanism behind our website, but as long as the large majority completes the steps we are ok with that :)

Currently its barely worth a few hundred bucks or 1k at max, so we dont plan on selling yet :)

As Harrington mentioned before, our mechanism isn't quite advanced yet, it simply checks if the other tab has been open for some time. However, I am planning to maybe add Login with Twitter, Google, etc. so you're essentially forced to comply.

Yeah, this is the correct way to go. Most main sites offer some kind of oauth login to allow you to do it, but some will not. I still know some large sites that are easily bypassed particularly the facebook ones. Great looking site though!
