You can’t be 100% anonymous if you use digital communications, it’s just not possible.
You can never be 100/100 anonymous. There is always some kind of problem you run into at these situations. Its just like real life; When you think that everythin is going good, everything goes wrong.
But in ny opinion HMA is indeed one of the best ones to hide yourself out there. Not a 100/100 anonymity but it works just fine.
You need more than HMA to be anonymous..
If you use a linux based OS. Look into tor and proxychains, that will allow you to bounce between a few proxys. Even then that's not 100% anonymous and if you don't set it up correctly can still leak your IP. Ultimately, if some sort of authority wants to track you, they will!

The best option for anonymity is to gain access to WiFi networks that aren't yours, then use their internet connection as a base to use more layers on-top of.
Each time you go to do something, keep on the move and use a different connection each time.
The source would hardly lead back to you unless you use the same WiFi again.
This isn't practical (and does have some problems obviously), but it's probably the best there is and may be suitable for ad-hoc activities that require extremely high anonymity.

Just quoting this guy as it's the best answer. 🙂
HMA its the worst vpn lol, also as others said you cant be 100% anonymous, but with many tips and tricks you can reach maybe 90% if you're careful
HMA's old client had good IP intervals, I'll give it that. I'm actually not sure if they are off-shore or not though. What are you trying to stay anonymous for? If you're just trying to pass a few network restrictions some crappy free VPN can usually suffice. If you're looking to cover your tracks because you are part taking in black activity you're going to want to research more in-depth for off-shore VPN's, and make use of proxy intervals.
I can help you find some VPNs, and good proxies if you want. Just PM me.
Maybe not 100%, but there is one configuration that's almost untraceable.
1)Buy a New laptop, and NEVER EVER use ANY of your personal accounts on your lap (Facebook, email, blabla).
2)Use TAILS distribution, and in a VM inside TAILS, if u want, install Kali. Obviusly, encrypt the HDD and the virtual HDD.
3)Buy a new router-switch and configure it to connect throught TOR and/or "Zero-logs"VPN, and DROP the conection if the link is lost.
4)If u can, use the Wi-Fi of a bar/pub/coffee to bridge the connection with your router.
5)Never install something unknow or not reviewed on your Hacking Lab. Review the Source code allways.
6)Beware of the navigation
Never mix the scenarios (home-use/hacking)
Well .To put an end to this questions
YOU CAN'T be anonymous or to be precise ;your footprints always will leave a trace ,so leave a fake (manipulated) trace ..USE your BRAIN
Who's the hell on the earth told u to use HMA ? ..those people are very friendly when it comes to legal aspects .
