Should tattoos be allowed in the workspace? With professional jobs such as Lawyers and Doctors?
As long as it isn't gang related or offensive I don't see why this is that big of an issue you can still have a sense of professionalism with visible tattoos.
What do you think
Edit: I like how my shit post thread gets 50 replies in an hour but my HQ thread gets zero

My buddy who hooks me up at times, worked in a professional role, I had zero idea he even had tattoos until he had to take his shirt off only for me to see both arms and his entire torso is tattooed fully up, only thing that is not visible is the collar area and his wrists... He wears a dress shirt and its fully covered.
I think the lack of response means that just about everyone agrees with you. Not much point in replying if we're pretty much just going to say the same thing as you are.
Having tattoos just makes you unserious, especially if they are very visible. Same with piercings, stretched earlobes and all that stuff.
Of course if you work at starbucks noone will give a shit, but as a lawyer or doctor it just doesnt fit your image. If you are an artist/musician etc. it might actually be helpful tho.

I don't think it's a matter of it should be allowed it's more of what's socially acceptable. Personally I wouldn't want to be represented by a lawyer with visible tattoos mainly due to social prejudges especially if a jury is involved. I also wouldn't want to be seen by a doctor with tattoos as I have no idea what safety precautions were taken when they got that tattoo and wouldn't want to take that risk.
You shouldn't wear tattoos on visible areas while performing a professional job such as a lawyer or doctor.
It's just not professional and often is connected to a stereotype which immediately puts you in a position where people will have their judgement ready.
I wouldn't even hire a lawyer or whatever if he had visible tattoos, nobody would take him serious.
I think it should be fine. Tattoos are such a great form of expression in my opinion. Unfortunately I have a hand tattoo so I'll probably struggle to get certain jobs... Hopefully views change but I doubt it happening any time soon.
At least it's not like South Korea where tattooing is illegal.
If you get time here's an awesome documentary about tattoo culture in South Korea, also bonus it's hosted by a complete babe tattoo goddess. (grace neutral)
I mean in an ideal world, it would be completely fine. However, in the real world, there will be a persistent bias against workers (professionals especially) with tattoos. Getting a tattoo would most like harm a person with a job like a doctor or lawyer.

All my tattoos can be covered by long sleeves so I'm not really worried about my future goal of becoming a doctor. I just think it shouldn't be that big of a deal.
I'm not a fan of tattoos but I don't really judge people that have them. But I think it would prevent me from hiring people who may have offensive tattoos that my customers may see. So in that regard I think it's an unwise decision to do things like face/neck/hand tattoos.
