Random Link Generator

Is it possible for my site to have something that generates a random link each time the page is refreshed, an example:

User visits website and in the top corner it says "Your referral link: http//XXX.XXX\ref=28e93" but it actually just is a redirection link to the homepage. So a fake affiliate link. Then when they refresh it generates a new one..?
If you don't care about the uniqueness or how secure that referral code is then you can just generate it on the page-load with javascript since it doesn't matter anyway.

If you want to make it look more legit, you could generate the token easily on the server-side by just creating an array of all the characters and just randomly picking one at time up to the desired length since it doesn't matter how secure it is since again it is a fake link.

I have no idea how to do it

you can modify the htaccess file on your apache server to do a permanent redirect to the home page, also this should be posted in the web development section not the Java subforum.
