Yall need to up your game and it seems most of you still aren't using the XMPP room.
I'm going to make this really easy so you have 0 excuses. I can write how to run it through proxychains if you really want me to using tor as default. No point though.
(taken from Omnis thread: Some common features in the Hacker.IM service are file transfers, group chats, OTR, and more.)
Add users from the chat/HF and speak to them securely. Start using XMPP today.
1. Go here:

2. Download Pidgin
https://pidgin.im/
3. Open Pidgin
4. Choose the protocol XMPP
4a. Enter Username which is just the first part.
4b. Under Domain enter hacker.im
4c. Enter your password.

5. Click Tools > Room List

6. Get List - if you get prompted for "Enter a conference server" enter im.hacker.im

7. Click the room 'hackforums' that pops up then click Join.

Why not. You don't have to talk, but it's a good platform for communicating with Omni and other members.

You know there's a reason why I disabled my PMs, I don't want to be contacted privately. So personally I see no reason to contact someone off site or omni.

It is definitely possible to voice chat using pidgin as well as video chat. You will have to do it outside this group but you can add users and do that if you wish.

I just figured people mustn't know how to set it up or something. I hope it's easy enough to follow. If anyone sets it up from scratch and theirs is different, please let me know.

Thanks for the simple as fuck tutorial. I tried a different tutorial some time last year but I still couldn't figure it out then I gave up.

I already had an account and were on the server but can't join any rooms.
