Lately, I have noticed that the biggest users in HackForums are always getting away with their scams etc. and I would like people to know the following:
You've been provided a huge community where you can share value and build connections for the long-term. You have so many benefits being a user of this forum or any other forum for that matter but you're thinking very short-term. You can easily destroy these connections which can benefit you now and in the future.
If you want to build a reputable long-term business with a steady income, be smart. To be able to make money in the bigger stages, you need to understand that you can do that by providing something for people. Whether that's value, product or service. But a good one. A lot of the users are thinking very short-term and want the quick money.
Yes, you'll make several grand selling books here with vouches by friends that haven't even seen the product/service itself and end up misleading others (more specifically the new members.). But when it comes to an end, you won't have anything. You most likely will have lost most of your connections and all of your reputation.
Provide value, build a reputation and the money will come around to you. But don't build it at the expense of others.
Think long-term, not short-term. You'll be respected and people won't hesitate to deal with you, building more opportunities for yourself that create a much bigger success than what you have for that short amount of time. It's not hard to see why people are easily making $10K/month up to $50k/month by providing a service/product people constantly need due to it being good. If it was bad, no one would come back. I can't stress how important this is.
LONG TERM. NOT SHORT-TERM.
I agree with you 100%. Like this user for example, been here few years and has high reputation he's a serial scammer, will never lose his account.
https://hackforums.net/member.php?action...id=1134879
I searched his UID and see 18 threads that are scam reports and there are other threads warning the community.
For him, it doesn't matter short term or long term, he will be fine and that is what sucks about the marketplace here.
I try my best to only sell quality products, I try my best to communicate with my buyers and make sure they are happy with what they purchase from me. In the long term that should boost my sales. I've had customers who bought a product off me over a year ago and know I was genuine when I sold that so they came back to me to buy my other products. More than five people have done this.
It doesn't pay to scam or be unethical to your customers, and more people need to realize the value that HF has.
Nowadays? I'm just here for the nostalgia.

I understand why rules are the way they are right now. You give people tools to not get scammed and you let them do their own deals off site.
If somebody were to admit to scamming I've seen them get banned, but other wise staff can not get involved and its best that way.
That being said, somebody with 18 scam reports, should NOT be allowed here any longer.

As long as it's a on-site deal and it's a valid report, they should be banned. Also, those who get valid scam reports constantly should also get banned. It's funny how users can get banned for minor stuff but not scamming.
It blows my mind.

It's because Omni has repeatedly said that people shouldn't trust anyone on here and that he isn't responsible for any of the deals that are going on around here yet people continue doing the exact opposite. He even encourages people to stay away from the marketplace. That's why new members aren't allowed to post there until they reach a certain amount of posts/reputation.
Oh and I've been scammed on HF for a few hundred bucks yet the only one I blame is myself. I trusted and I paid for it. Life goes on, boom. If you can't take responsibility for any of the choices that you make then you should stay away from the marketplace. Simple as that.
And:
scam Definition
noun
The definition of a scam is slang for a fake scheme to steal money or goods.
An example of a scam is a company that takes a person's work and never pays him.
verb
To scam is defined as to cheat people out of money.
An example of scam is to sell a product, take the money and then never deliver the product.

It would still make the community better by banning those who has been filed a valid report towards, regardless of responsibility. In the end, it'll be a shit hole. By having more consequences, the community becomes at least better.

There's no way to verify those transactions actually occurred and it would take a lot of time to have staff sort through all the scam reports. Best thing to do your research before dealing with a member.
That means reputation, trust scan and just search of their uid. You see a scam report? Refuse to go first and offer to use a middle man. If they reject using a middle man or going first? Then tell them to go fuck themselves.

Someone going first goes both ways, either could be scamming. And what if someday the middleman is a part of a scam where there is a huge money involved. (Low risk of that happening, but would that go unpunished? You see what I am getting at?)
I'm l33t and I am not even able to do a trust scan and people can have clean records yet still scam, it still sucks for others. Makes no sense to not punish scammers, even if it takes "time".

Just because staff do not get involved in disputes does not mean they take no action against scammers.....

I'm not asking for them to be involved but rather take action (from what I have heard, they do not even take action.). I have noticed that most people get away, regardless if it's a valid report. I have seen old reports that hasn't even been commented on and solved.

Your point is?
First notification you get when you join is to be cautious of the marketplace and trust no one.
Sounds like simple bitching to me. I sadly had to open a deal dispute recently myself, shit happens... This is just the way of the world...
I'll say it for the millionth time. You don't get anything if you ban a scammer. They lose their account, make new one and earn reputation again. That way there isn't a possible way to know that that account is a scammer in disguise. When someone has scam reports on their account and you still decide to deal with him/her, that's fully on you. Problem is that not many members do a proper research, especially new(er) members. That's not the problem of HF, that's the problem of members because they don't want to read and educate themselves. There are many guides on how to protect yourself on HF that are stuck in certain sections.

It was a blast being on staff. I stepped down as it's time for me to move on. I wish you all the best and if you were hit by my warnings and/or bans, it was nothing personal.
Peace out!

Don't you think users would trust scammers that has reputation up to 1k-3k. They'll automatically assume he's trusted and if he has to rebuild that reputation again, so be it. It'll take longer time. It'll always be better banning scammers then not, regardless of what they do afterwards. Some may not register again, some may. That doesn't matter and it's simply stupid.
There's a reason why people bring this up, it'll do damage to this community and it should be sorted.

If you assume trust when dealing with someone online without proper research, then you deserve to be scammed.
