In the past, there was a feature for ub3rs to junk our threads.
This feature was heavily abused and therefore removed.
I'd love to be able to clear a lot of my old threads, to clean up my profile.
Therefore it would be nice if there was some kind of junkpoints, either by payment or other contribution.
Example:
Pay 5$ get 15 junk points (The ability to junk 15 of your threads)
Or for every 100 new posts, you get 1 junk point.
I'd love some kind of system, so we can still somehow junk our threads, but without it being abused.
Because I feel that a lot of my old threads is a mess, and would love to sort it out.
With credit implementation, which is being considered AFAIK, this would be possible but I don't like the idea tbh. It's not going to earn the site too much and it does look like a bit of a money racket.
That's the exact reason why the Junk feature was removed in the first place. People trying to junk all of their old threads.
If you have a genuine reason for your thread to be removed because for example it contains personal information or something else that you'd like to keep private, staff will help you with this for free.
Other then that there's no reason to remove it, because it messes with the SEO of the site among other problems.

Which is the exact reason why people should pay for it or earn the right to do it.
There can be several reasons of why one would want to remove their old threads, are they valid from a staffs point of view? No, are they from my point of view? Yes.
A lot of members, including myself, has been here since we were kids, meaning that a lot of old threads of mine was from when I was a kid and not always serious.
As far as the "Money Racket", I don't see this being a money racket, it's a service that you pay for.
Exactly like when you pay for a sticky, or pay for an upgrade.
You support the forum by paying for some goods that benefits both the forum, and yourself.
Yes this is a forum, but it's also a legitimate business, so of course there should be different paid options.

Can you give me some examples of threads you'd like to delete?
Like I said before, the junk feature was removed for a reason. Even if a thread seems stupid it may still help the forum as a whole in one way or another. That's why I am sure they won't add the feature back or have members purchase the right to do the very thing we've been trying to avoid.
Every 100 posts earn 1 junk point would be more realistic IMO. The site gains 100 new pieces of content for every 1 (essentially) piece of content lost.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MEMBER

I already paid Ub3r and with that also for a junk feature. Now you definitely don't see me complaining about it being removed (because of the abuse) but I would find it kind of disappointing if I have to pay every time i want to remove a thread with legitimate reasons to remove it. Thankfully I've only had to ask staff for it once and they gladly did it for me.
Others may need to junk threads more frequently but you could then argue that they need to think twice posting the thread.
I don't like this idea tbh but that's just how i feel about it
EDIT: missed the part about 100 posts = 1 junk point part
Sounds more intriguing than having to pay. Also encourages posting i guess. Maybe 500 posts or 1000 posts for 1 junk point since 100 posts is pretty easy to achieve

About any thread that isn’t business related or tutorials etc.
it’s not about what you’ve been trying to avoid, it’s about why you’ve been trying to avoid it.
Which is because of abuse.
But if we could find a thing in between not having the right to junk threads at all, and having the right to junk all threads as you please. Then that would be a good feature in my opinion.

That's not a great reason to remove mass threads. And if it was in the Lounge I deleted millions of threads from there.
I added the Junk feature to give members the ability to remove content they no longer need or want. It was abused. I warned heavily against the abuse but it only continued. It's not coming back in any form.
If the US adapts privacy laws similar to EU then I'd have no choice but to offer the option but right now it's not required that I do so. I am curious though about the new Facebook legal problems and Zuckerburg testifying before Congress. It could be a catalyst for similar privacy laws. We'll see.
For now, no junking.
Thank you for the reply, I’m sorry there will be no option for this, and hoping to see one in the future.
