As the title states, what brings you to a startup website? I'm curious as I am starting my website / forum and would love some feedback as to where to begin.

For your website, you should do 90% SEO, 10% advertising. SEO is everything in terms of search engines sending you visitors. Goto Yoast.com and learn the articles about SEO. There are things you need to do, to ensure that bots index your site. You need only submit to the biggest search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, etc.

If you are talking about forum , my reasons of starting it would be to earn extra cash such as this forum with the upgrades and also open up a community to learn new knowledges and other stuff.
Is there any other special reasons for starting up a forum? Or I'm just too simple?

Are you asking why do we join a brand new forum/website? Unsure if I’m misreading or if the above responses mistead what you said.

I join a forum/website if it has quality, if it’s presented and there aren’t ‘WIP’ features sitting on the site. The design must look good and also bring in some originality to it all. I turn away from so many sites around here because forums use similar themes, the design they use is horrible, if they use stupid css effects for usernames, ‘features’ that aren’t even complete.
