Yes, people still buy them. Though the prices have deflated prolly because of the TH11 update and the builder base update. I have a maxxed out TH11, when I first bought it way back January 2015, it costed me about $350 and now I'm getting offers of $100 or below. Ain't no way am I gonna sell it. Just ain't worth it.
