Hi guys.
https://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing...8-pdt.html
I just bought the above PC for £800. My i7 5gen Acer Aspire 5 died a few weeks ago, so I needed to get a new one. Firstly, I'm shocked with the prices of laptops now. At the time my laptop was only around £500, and now for the same spec is costs around £700-800... I guess times have moved on.
Anyway, back on topic... The sound on my new ASUS ROG is shit. It's distorted and vibrates whenever I play something through the sound (doesn't matter how loud the sound is, it does it on low too).
I'm going to take it back but I'm not sure whether to get a replacement and see if this model is just faulty, or to get a refund and buy another laptop.
The problems I've found with it so far from my opinion:
- Keyboard is a bit hard to type with (misplaced keys, but not sure if I'm just not used to it yet though)
- If I play a Youtube video, sometimes it will freeze for about 10 seconds... Noticed this a few times now.
- Sound distorted.
- It has a 1TB HDD and 128 SSD. Not sure if this is classed as a hybrid? But I've been told to just buy a laptop with SDD and not HDD... Thoughts on this?
- Battery lasts like 4 hours... I'm used to 8 hours.
- Smudges like fuck.
- It's a 7 gen, not an 8. I don't know if this bothers me, as I was on a 5gen before.
- Sometimes the touchpad doesn't respond for a few seconds. Irritating. (I miss my old laptop :( )
Overall it's a beautiful laptop, but I'm not sure if I really need it, or whether I can justify paying £800 for it. I don't really play games, but I would like the opportunity to if I decide that I do in the future. I sometimes play Fortnite, but I prefer playing on PS3.
Do you think I really need this laptop, or is there any other spec or laptop make that you'd recommend?
Thanks
