Where do all these sellers come up with "Normally valued at $xxx price"?

On most products in the marketplace (shit ones) always say "This product has been valued at "$199 but get it only for $99"

Where are these so called "values" coming from? It makes 0 sense to me.
it doesn't come from anything, it's just a marketing strategy.
It’s a random value made out of thin air.
It's a fake "sale" to create a sense of urgency. It's a marketing tactic and 90% of the time is listed at the 'sale' price the entire life of the product or service.
They pull it out of their ass. I've done it before plenty of times and it can work.
It's a good marketing strategy that works wonders. Numbers are pure bullshit tho.

It was a blast being on staff. I stepped down as it's time for me to move on. I wish you all the best and if you were hit by my warnings and/or bans, it was nothing personal.

Peace out!
LMAO. Lenovo does this shit all the time on their flagship laptops. Them Chinese know how to market.
