Some devices may be disabled when you boot to another OS just because they have not gotten to the point to load. Just plug in a keyboard. Or, use VM software and get to Kali alternatively.

In the past with most Linux install issues that I've had, most of the time a hard drive problem. Try manually partitioning beforehand or installing it to an external device to confirm.

OSX comes with virtual box it's probably better if you use virtualbox if you want to do wifi stuff get a couple of external adapters.
