Hello guys , i have some problem about Network pentest.I read lots of security books for 1 year and i am working to be Network Security intern in a bank but i don’t think i am improving my self.I have created my own security lab in virtual box.I installed metasploitable2 and i am trying to find vulnerable on.But this isn’t improve anymore me.How can i do to improve me about Network Pentest.I am waiting your advice

(Sorry for bad english)
Research and test things u read about. There are lots of vulnerable VM's out there just download and hack. Also be updated with newest attacks. I suggest watching Def Con and events like that regularly as they are good source of info tbh. Also if u spent that much time in learning im sure u just need some more confidence to apply for the job as its not some ultra hard job.

I recommend thinking outside of just pentesting. Start thinking about how malware infects a network, why hackers target who they target, why do they target who they target, and all the forensics around it. I would then start reading articles on security issues, how they happened, who found them, and how they were fixed. Look at these attacks from different angles including political, legal, personal, etc. Maybe even get into malware analysis.

Again, it is all about going beyond penetration testing. You want to diversify yourself as much as possible and know a little about each field and then build on those interests as you learn them. Also, do not forget about building on the skills that no one directly thinks of like your social skills and networking skills. Make a LinkedIn (if you do not already have one) and follow or connect with all the big names in cybersecurity and see what they are posting. I like to follow Brain Krebs, Joe Prado, and Bob Carver (really anyone who has cybersecurity as their title and posts articles and content).

Find friends in this community and others and want to actually learn. You took this first step by posting this thread which will only make you better as you have something a lot of people lack, that cannot be bought, and that is motivation.

I am in the cybersecurity industry as both a technologist and investigative reporter, if you have any questions never hesitate to ask me. Best of luck!
