So, having an issue with my forum container to make it thinner

When I make the width: 85% in #content it looks like this:

How can I make it so everything is at 85%?

Code

.container {
   text-align: left;
   line-height: 1.4;
   margin: 0;
   font-family: 'Roboto', sans-serif;
   font-size: 13px;
}

#content {
background: #202020;
padding: 15px 20px;
border-bottom: 1px  solid #111;
overflow: hidden;
margin: 0 auto;
}

When you say make everything 85% are you referring to the red nav bar above/the border around the outside? Do you have a link i can look at? Would make it a lot easier to help.
