I had a question regarding port forwarding, dns and vpns. So if I use a vpn while setting up my dns host and point it to my vpn ip, will I still need to port forward in order to successfully set up my rat?? thanks in advance

With almost every RAT you need to port forward but some VPNs allow you to port forward through the VPN
