(This post was last modified: Sep 3, 2018 06:56 AM by 44krieger.)
I recently acquired a used 2009 (says so on the back) Macbook Pro.
I erased the main hard drive using the disk utility and then tried to reinstall the OS X El Capitan via recovery, but after it prompts me to log in using my apple id it just says 'This item is temporarily unavailable' and i am unable to install the OS.
I did some crazy googling for a few hours and tried creating a bootable USB with El Capitan on it, but nothing seems to work. I always have to log in and then get the same error message.
Can anyone give me some tips or has anyone ran into this before?
If you need anymore information to help me, please let me know. I am not sure if El Capitan was the original OS the Macbook came with.
Edit:
Some more info: To create the USB i formatted it using a program called TransMac and recovered it with a .dmg file of the el capitan osx and then booted the mac from that usb stick but it still had me log in and prompted me with the same error.
