You can see the transmitter on top of the camera, so when I take a photo the lights blink briefly. I put the settings down on low and made it hard to pick up light to achieve dark surrounding. This is to also avoid dealing with reflections, and make it blend to dark forum for the sake of presentation. It's hard to take pictures of reflective stuff, and even more so to show details. The glass itself is lighted by the lamp to the right with a large softbox, and then the spotlight (Sort of, a hivepattern to make it go one direction) in the middle to illuminate the glass and give bright highlights on one side. That's especially nice on glass, since it makes the edges and any marks on it (the illustration) basically just glow.
Awesome work and detail put into this. For some reason I feel a old saloon/bar in the west sort of vibe from the work and it is very appealing to the eye. The presentation is amazing with the thread design. What kind of camera did you use for this and what kind of programs did you use to create the final image?

I used a Canon Mark III, with a mix of 100 and 50mm lenses. Took some with a 24-70 too, but I don't think I used any of those images. I adjusted lighting in Camera Raw further, then cleaned up dust and whatnot in Photoshop. As for the artwork itself, I used Photoshop to do multiple sketches and improve it. Then I vectorize it in Adobe Illustrator. When finished I sent it to a company that does laser engraving. They wanted to show us (this was made for our company) their laser machines that we consider buying. This artwork was made for that meeting to test it (as mentioned at the OP). They had to fine-tune the laser on a different piece of glass, as glass is somewhat hard to engrave on due to various quality. It could not be too hot and slow, but also not too cool and fast. After a few attempts, it was "fine" and we made the piece above. (Oct 4, 2018 03:59 AM)Virtus_Graphics Wrote: Quick phone picture from the photography for the presentation. Oh shit bro that looks professional as hell! Do you have a website link with some other shots you've done? That is fucking sick. Do you do sketches with a wacom? I've been looking into handmade art but never really thought that I could draw all that well :P (Oct 5, 2018 12:49 AM)Strayaa Wrote: Oh shit bro that looks professional as hell! Did it for this one just to showcase it. https://www.virtusgraphics.com (Oct 5, 2018 11:16 PM)Inaptive Wrote: That is fucking sick. Do you do sketches with a wacom? I've been looking into handmade art but never really thought that I could draw all that well :P Yep. I do some sketches and plans on paper, and then move on to Photoshop where I do more sketching and refinement. When done with that, I put the image in to Illustrator and vectorize it, along with other fine-tuning. Also; anyone can learn to draw. To draw is to see. |
