How can I annoy a scammer ?

Hello there !

Sometimes I receive scam mails, about someone who wants to send me money because whatever, or other things like I apparently didn't pay my gas or phone bill.

I really want to act for a better Internet security and I was asking myself if there is a safe and efficience way to annoy a scammer, like e-mail bombing ?
I was interested about this technique but I know that a hacker can read the <header> of the e-mail, and see the public IP address for exemple, that can be tricky.

I use Opera which have a VPN integrated in the private navigation mode, is it enough to hide my IP address in the header ?

I know that prevent scamming is pretty utopian, but as Einstein said :

"The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil but by those who watch and do nothing"

Thanks for you replies  🤝

How about get a better spam filter for your e-mail and stop subscribing to porn newsletters, then you might lose the idea of pretending to be a big bad hacker when you see a scam email and want to respond with some mega hack attack hoping that's actually how it'll work, based under some motivational quote.

Thought you were looking for a way to stop getting annoyed? Why else would you want to "act for a better Internet security", if you want to do that first protect yourself before you try protect others.

a vpn is enough to hide your ip. you could also spoof your ip if you wanted.

The thread say : "How can I annoy a scammer", not "How can be no more annoyed by a scammer".
Le sujet dit : "Comment puis-je embêter un arnaqueur", pas "Comment ne plus être embêté par un arnaqueur".

I guess if some people are able to disturb those unscrupulous behaviors, the people behind those scams will maybe be discouraged, or at least they will lose sometimes knowing that they pay to access to a computer, it's a loss of earnings. I agree, one person versus the world is surrealist, but we need to begin somewhere  😅

Thanks  ✌  I will try to send me an e-mail trough the private navigation to see what it looks like.

laisse moi te dire ce qui est au contenu qui t'as ecrire: "I really want to act for a better Internet security", le contraire de ce que t'as implique.

shit french aside, the reason i'm commenting on the body of what you said opposed to the title is because they revolve around completely different implications of intent. there is no "loss of earnings" by responding to an email, calling the scam center nor whatever you think; they kinda know how to deal with people that try to annoy them since it's a common thing to do nowadays.

regardless, there's not exactly much you can do besides stopping trying to be an internet hero.
if i really saw a chance in this then i would've helped, but there's others that can reply with the same advice i would've given, i'm just giving another perspective.

Doesn't a VPN already spoof your IP?

no, it masks your IP address.

first of all, no it doesn't spoof your ip. and I meant spoof it as an alternative to vpn
