Hi guys
I find my self struggling in school, especially in retaining knowledge and concepts.
In English I have difficulty remembering vocab words and retaining grammatical concepts and writing effectiveness.
Anybody have any tips of retaining knowledge and remembering it, and how long their method works for? When I take tests, I completely blank out on things that I thought I knew.
Also, does anybody have any tips for school and doing well? Can you please share your method of studying effectively?

You need to remeber that after school almost noone cares about your grades. It's all about insudtry knowledge.
Fuck school. But serially, if you are struggling, get a tutor. But at the end of the day, school aint everything.

I don't know if you know this, but in America doing well in school is everything compared to actually knowing your shit in the beginning stages, I have to learn the BS that I will never use in life and I am struggling to grasp those concepts, thus is why I am asking for tips that people have used to do better, also I am not looking for someone to pay and guide me, I am looking for ways to better my techniques of learning and retaining knowledge.

Dude, it don't matter where u from. But if you want to do well GET A TUTOR. Trust me, getting one isn't just for them to educate you on topics but to educate you on your EXACT question.
If you want to do well, spend a few bucks.
I struggled with memorizing terms for the longest time. I finally figured out something that worked for me, so maybe it'll work for you too.
I print out a page of terms on one side, and the definitions on the other. This could work with math equations as well. I look at the term for a second, look away/close my eyes and remember what was on the page. Then, I look at the definition and do the same. I go down the page until I successfully recalled the definition and the term. Afterwards, I mix it up and cover random definitions and attempt to recite the term. The ones I forget, I separate and repeat until I can successfully recall all the information.
Yes, it's time consuming, but it's the only thing that works for me. Hope this helps!

are you becoming a English major?
if not u only need 2 English classes in college, get c's and move on to topics more suited towards u and forget about it.
Everyone has to do things they don't want to do or don't like to do, doing them is apart of life and school is doing a lot of things you like to do and don't like to do. In theory it's meant to give u fundamental principles and basic knowledge on topics. Take learning in school with a grain of salt and most things you probably will learn better on your own so learn them on your own without having to self rely on others to teach you or tutor you on subjects that your capable of learning. Just apply your self and repeat in doing this you will improve your skills in what ever your trying to do and will gain knowledge how to learn and grow as a person.

I am taking one AP English course. And the advice you gave me was nice
Do it everyday. Sleep consistently. Take notes. Ask a friend. - These worked for me
A big part of memory is spaced repetition, if you can review the notes from the last day on your way to the class today it will help you understand the class today which will make the next days learning easier as well. reviewing what you learned, even quickly in your head, right after the class will help write it to memory. After dinner but before bed spend 5 or 10 minutes reviewing your notes or going over the class in your head again.
Go to bed at about the same time everyday (even weekends when possible) and get up around the same time everyday. Sleep is a big part of memory, cognitive function and over all health. If you don't feel tired its easier to learn in class.
Taking notes on paper has been proven to help commit the information to memory and it will give you something to review. Look into bullet journals to make quick notes that let you find info easily.
Ask someone in your class a question if you don't understand or didn't hear something. Ask a friend who knows about the subject, they might be able to explain it better then your instructor. No one will refuse to answer a question so might as well get the info.
These work for me, mileage may vary.
Try this tips guy:
Pay attention in class.
Steer clear of distractions.
Make sure notes are complete

That happen to everyone when they take a break they think that they forgot all the previous work but if you will revise it again you will understand it again and eat almonds they increase your memory capacity
You should eat almonds to fasten and make your memorizing power longer because Almonds elevate the levels of ACh acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter in the brain that helps enhance memory

A simple trick to retain knowledge. Is to reapeat reading/writing/answering the questions and answers. This has worked great for me.

It may be a bit odd, but I find that if I'm struggling to remember something or if I want to evaluate the depth of my knowledge on a new topic it helps to pretend as though I'm teaching it to someone else. You could envision yourself explaining it to a close friend on the couch or to a class of "students" from a podium, but try to do your best putting the topic into words that other people can understand. What I like best about this is that it really highlights areas where you need improvement - if you start stumbling over your words and can't think of what to say, then you don't know the material well enough to explain it to someone else. If you can't explain it to someone else in simple terms, you probably don't have a strong enough grasp on it yourself. Take note of the concepts/terms/statistics you do the worst in and then go back later and study those again.
As someone mentioned before, spaced repetition is important. Take some time to relax between study/self-examination sessions and once you're to the point where you can comfortably explain it to someone else from memory, you're good.
EDIT: And yes, do this out loud, even if your roommates look at you like you're crazy. Verbalizing things can help with memory as well.
Nootropics are touted as great "memory supplements", though I have no experience with them. I can't tell you if they work or not.
