Bitcoin Exchanges supposed to be anonymous

What is the deal with these Bitcion sellers on localbitcoins website and others, asking for id and name.

Isn't' Bitcoin Exchanges supposed to be anonymous?

I get it to a certain point but these fools want it to be traced back to you, which makes it the being anonymous aspect of it of no use.

What do you think and what bitcion exchange service or seller do you recommend.
It all boils down to prevent scammers and them being able to secure their money. It's understandable that you want to be anonymous but its just the way its set up. Maybe try changing what currency you're exchanging with or something idk...

That's to prevent fraud, theft and being robbed. Depending on your country it could also be an AML/CTF requirement.

Bitcion transactions are available on a public ledger, i.e Bitcion is not an "anonymous" cryptocurrency, see blockchaingroup.io and elliptic.co for examples.
Try to use a bitcoin mixer to be more anonymous. 🤝
