So I'm having issue getting libcurl up on visual studio 2017
I download the x86(32bit) version on this page for windows https://curl.haxx.se/download.html
(this one to be exact)
I make a dependencies folder
And I take what I got from libcurl 32bit binary (lib and include folder)
inside it
inside the lib one
inside the include one
I then add them to my console app project
https://i.imgur.com/pySw1wx.png ( include one)
https://i.imgur.com/VJGHAME.png (lib one )
so now I try to build it https://i.imgur.com/R9BWTQz.png
seems to work, no errors, and then when I do ctrl + f5 , I get dll errors
libcurl.dll missing and few others
What to do ? 🤝
edit; couldn't figure out statically so
I just did it as a dynamic link library
and it worked fine. so gucci gang on me boys!!

#define CURL_STATICLIB needs to be used to use static libraries for curl IIRC. You can add this to the preprocessor definitions location.

is this the way to do it?
because
Also, where to find that information on the official website?
No.. That's how you'd do it in source code, I'd read the docs to see how these options work.

Added to source code, same problem when opening the file, alot of .dll errors.

It needs to be ABOVE your include. Read the curl docs, there's information about CURL_STATICLIB right in there. All you had to do was define it in the properties though.
Instead of saying that it doesn't work without showing exactly what you're doing... I've given you all the information you need. I think maybe you should do some research and look up some examples? 🤨
you can find the libcurl.dll in the bin folder copy it to the bin project folder

I think 0xdead is correct about me needing to read the docs (even though idk where to look for in the docs, as i only see some explainations/examples of using the functions in it)
since adding libcurl.dll in the bin project == i get other .dll error
and if i find the others .dll missing from the internet and put them in the same folder as my build
i get even more newer .dll errors...

you cant use the a lib files with visual studio you need to compile the code to lib files

Wait mate, can you confirm one thing, did I download the right thing in the thread? the right package for visual studio 2017 ?
or is it something else for visual studio? 🤝

*.dll.a is typically intended for being resolved by a dynamic library. If this is for VS though your best bet is to use a dynamic lib or compile the lib for VS.
