PS3 sounds like a jet engine

I bought one of those original fat ps3s off eBay and it is EXTREMELY LOUD. It sounds like a jet engine and makes playing games hard because it feels like some third world machine. I have owned every console. Wii, psp, ps2, ps1, Xbox 360, Xbox one x, Nintendo, you name it I’ve owned it. I have never had a console that was this loud before. It makes me want to turn it off and not even use it ever again.
a playstation 4 would start to become a printer overtime as wel.
i witnissed 2 playstations 4 going full jetfuel mode.

Are ps4s like this as well? I was watching Netflix and could barely hear the tv because the console was so loud. When I turned the console off there was a relief in the room like a hurricane just ended.
Mine is basically unplayable now. You can reduce the noise by installing a generic fan system which are about $10 from ebay
I just put in a ps2 disc and it sounded like a rattling wood chipper. It literally sounded like an animal dying or something. This is the worst console I ever owned. I have my tv very loud trying to drown out the loud console but the console is so over powering it sounds like I have one of those cheap white fans turned on high in my room. This sucks because I wanted to use this console to watch Netflix YouTube tv and movies. “Blue ray player”. This is a disgrace. What is next? The console is going to blow up and kill me pretty soon.
Same here with my non pro PS4, sounds like it will take off any minute!
Sounds like an overheating issue, rip it apart and clean it out with an air can/compressor.

If that fails, you will need to apply new thermal paste, simple youtube tutorial should show you the way, GL.

Last time I tried to open up my 3000$ laptop to try and fix a minor issue I broke it. We are talking about something that is extremely old in the first edition of the PS3 and I don’t know what I’m doing. But I’ll probably try because the noise is unbearable and id rather have it break than to have a noisy console.

I turn on the console and it’s not loud
-5 mins later the sound rackets up a notch
-10 minutes into the console being on it gets loud and overpowers the volume in the tv
-15 minutes into the console being on it sounds like a lawn mover

I understand, have had multiple "fat" consoles, it is the only cure unless you build an external soundproof box and situate in your backyard.

You'd probably still hear it tho.

If you havent already try the below:

Quote:Turn the power on using the switch at the rear of PS3 console or plug the power cord (for PS3 slims) back into the socket while holding down the eject button. Continue to press the eject button for several seconds until your hear the fan turn on, then release the eject button.

sounds like you might have a problem on your hands
