Possible to destroy harddrive?

Hey all,

Does windows defender protect against a script that would copy and paste a file repeatedly, filling up the drive, then deleting everything repeatedly?
And would this damage the harddrive?

Thanks!
It won't really destroy your HD, and even if an AV doesn't catch it you can still restore your HD and it will be brand new; new data will just be written over it.

But what if this was in the terabytes? like what if this file literally filled the entire drive and wiped constantly and as fast as possible?
Run your program in a VM. But no, the admin can do whatever they want.
You can't destroy a HDD by creating files, it's what they are meant to do, the only way to destroy one is by destroying the drive platter with a screwdriver or a hammer.
Furnaces are the most secure form of data destruction. Once a HDD is liquefied, there is no chance of data recovery.
