Air Gear, Trick 1 Review.

Synopsis

Ikki Minami known as Ikki by his friends, got in a fight with a Storm Rider group called the Skull Saders , and lost. At that point he gets more and more involved with the world of Air Gear and discovers a secret that the Noyamano Sisters kept from him. He then decides to try out a pair of Air Trecks from his sister and ends up at an Air Treck meeting challenging the Skull Saders team by accident. This is due to the attractiveness of Simca on Ikki.

Review

I believe this episode was pretty defining for the Main Character Ikki Minami, as the title of this episode implies “Trick 1” this episode starts his Journey. After being part of a regular Gang Organization, he stumbles into a whole New World and decides to be an Air Treck Storm rider. This episode more or less shows Ikki hitting his own Rock Bottom, and after this showcase he then begins his next great Journey as he finds his reason to live after a stressful, and quite embarrassing day out. This Episode particularly stuck out due to me personally hitting my considerable Rock Bottom, then somewhat finding a reason to go on. It resonated with me quite well, the idea of being beaten and embarrassed only to find serenity quite soon after. All together I’d probably rate the episode an 8.5 / 10 as there were a few things I personally would’ve changed, but it was still good overall.

Important Characters

Ikki Minami - The Main Character of the story, Caught between two opposing forces while just trying to find his place in his respective universe. Ikki is Hot Headed, and not necessarily the brightest but his demeanor might remind you of that of a Shonen Protagonist similar to Ichigo from Ichigo mostly.

Kouji Magaki - Kouji is the well respected Leader of the Skull Saders. He’s both the reasoning for Ikkis Rock Bottom, as well as him prospering into a Storm Rider. Kouji is a very brute force sort of guy, he stands tall on his ability to outbox nearly all opponents, and seeks to become a high level Storm Rider team.

The Noyamano Sisters - These girl are more or less Ikki’s only true family aside from his friends, they’re also members of the renowned group “Sleeping Forest” which is seen as the most legendary group of Storm Riders to ever exist. They’re all pretty interesting characters, Ringo is my personal favorite.

Simca - Simca is Ikki’s initial Love Interest, she’s considerably what really provokes him to try out Air Trecks. Simca is a bit of a Sweet Heart, although she seemingly had Ulterior Motives she can make scenes quite exciting with her energy. You never know what She’ll do next, she keeps you on your toes.
