In the beginning of the mobile theme, the search button at the top used to direct you to “View new posts”, however it was changed to an actual search.php, I was wondering if there’s any way we can set it back to view new posts? I personally browse HF from my phone a decent amount, and it gets pretty tedious to have to click the drop down menu, another option, then view new posts.
Yes, I know we’re only talking about a couple of clicks here but I just figure for the average user it’d be more beneficial to have it that way.
Or, alternatively, if this button was customizable for the user to change it to view new posts? Not sure if that’s even possible but it’d help.
I'll think about how this can be changed.
Even adding to the footer menu could work for me. Not sure the aesthetics but it could work.
Im a mobile user as well, and constantly am clicking to view new posts.
Never been an issue for me but I can see how it might be tedious for others

I know it’s been awhile since this (Jesus, 6 years already?) but what do you think about altering the search button on mobile to be View New Posts instead?
Maybe I’m just a lazy shithead, but I feel like having View New Posts there makes more sense for a new user, or regular mobile users attempting to browse the forum.
Currently you have to click 3 separate areas to view new posts on mobile.

I don't like where it is now either. I'm actually thinking making it directly under Navigation dropdown.
EDIT: Or what about if I make the SEARCH icon also a dropdown with the options there instead? I think that would work.

I think the latter is perfect. Drop down with new posts and search.

Amazing. Already feels so much easier.
Love the touch of adding “Your Threads” and “Your Posts” to it as well.
Nicely done and appreciate it.
Still tweaking it some. Should have done this years ago. It's way better this way.

If you're not viewing the size correctly, that's your device or settings.
What screen size do you have, which browser do you use? What's the device (iOS or Android)? And what's your resolution set to? Any custom font size or screen size adjustments?
This is how I see HF on my smart phone.

Can other members confirm what their screen looks like? Since I'm admin it might be slightly different.
I asked you some questions you didn't answer.
Like what Device, because I want screen size, and what resolution you use.
EDIT: It looks to me like you're in desktop mode. Do you have the dropdowns in the header?
Should look like this on the top of the page if you're NOT in Desktop Mode.

Here is what mines looks like:
For reference, I am on iPhone 16 Pro Max using Safari web browser and in Mobile browsing mode.
I see his point with missing the right side, I feel that was as well. But squeezing all that into a mobile view will look a little rough, especially for those that may have smaller mobile screen devices.
I’ve been trying to brain storm a solution but can’t think of one. Best I thought of was maybe adding “Last Post By: <member> in a small text box to the right of thread title. I feel as though adding anything else, like thread views, will make everything crammed together.
TBH, I think it mainly feels like something is “missing” because we are so used to browsing on desktops. So when we’re browsing on mobile, we know there’s a piece of HF that’s over on the right but we can’t see it. Meh, either way doesn’t affect too much of the browsing experience and I don’t feel like I’m missing out on much. Nice to have, fine without.

Maybe this is by design and it's me being neurotic but after all the years of desktop browsing it's just something my brain expects to see for that at-a-glance assessment.

This is a good representation of what I see, so every thread I'm always going in on page 1 not the newest post.
I don't understand how you have margin to the left. It should be 0 margin 0 padding on the left and right. That's why you have an issue on the screen. Without replication I'm not really able to help you too much.
Have you tried to view HF from a horizontal position (rotate your phone) because I bet that's a better experience for you?
I really want your screen resolution.

How it should look. Which is why I don't understand when people have issues.
