Hey there guys,

I've just got on and I am intrigued about the Discord 'channel/username ban'. Anyone know how and why this came about?

It's just that I would mainly use Discord other than PMs on here when I can't PM just like now. (don't worry I'm working on reaching the limit, I'm just not wanting to post LQ posts.).

From what I can tell you can still use discord but you can't include it in any disputes, contracts or posts on the forum

People would start advertising discord servers and communities so the activity on-site would die because of it. I believe it was a good call.

Right, so I can't post a comment in someone's thread asking them for a service and ask them to contact me on Discord? That I can see in regards to making it easier for mods/admins/owners to see if someone has been scammed if it is reported that they used the PM system on the forum and are not having to trust someone with possibly faked screenshots, so I get that.

I always PM asking if they can contact me on discord/telegram, you shouldn't put your usernames in a post anyways.

Discord made it so that there was more activity off-site than on-site. People would do everything on Discord, which is of course not the point of a forum. Hence it is banned . To know what is exactly banned, check out the Help Docs.

Believe it was something to do with the off-site deals and people getting scammed and then going to omni and saying they got scammed on discord. He cant do anything about it as its on discord and not oh hackforums.

The decision to not have Discord run it's course on this Forum was the best decision ever made by HF staff, simple as.
