Issue with Brave browser on Fedora 23

Hello, guys.

I am trying to install Brave on a bit outdated Fedora version (23). The instructions they provide in their documentation are for fedora 28+

Has anyone succeeded installing it on an older version?

I received the bellow error:

Error: nothing provides libssl3.so(NSS_3.28)(64bit) needed by brave-browser-0.55.16-1.x86_64
(try to add '--allowerasing' to command line to replace conflicting packages)

(tried dnf clean all)

Thanks!
Any ideas, guys?

Thanks!
The docs say its for v28+ because it was programmed using newer libraries. You have old versions of the libraries installed, so the program expects to be able to call functions that may not exist in the old versions.

Code
Error: nothing provides libssl3.so(NSS_3.28)(64bit) needed by brave-browser-0.55.16-1.x86_64

Says that the library file libssl3.so is missing. This file is provided by the package nss_3.28 (checked with a Google search).

You could try to install the updated nss package, but this will replace the current version. This will likely cause other applications on your system to stop working, as they rely on the older version and it isn't always backwards compatible. There are also likely a ton of other dependencies that Brave requires that you would also have to find the library and package you're missing, and install that as well, again probably breaking stuff that requires the old versions.

The only real solution is either
  1. Install an older version of Brave

  2. Upgrade your system

Definitely upgrade your stuff if you can. Fedora 23 reached EOL (end of life) back in 2016, so it hasn't been receiving security or bug fixes for 3-years now! There have been a LOT of big security issues that have been fixed over the last 3 years. There are very few reasons not to upgrade a system, and having an unpatched system connected to the internet is just a disaster waiting to happen.
Why are you running Fedora 23 is the real question here.
