There is no real corporate finance / investing forum that is actually active. There is one big player in the market, but they are specific to discussion about landing a job in finance. If you ask an actual finance question or start finance discussion, you are unlikely to get an answer.
If you were able to get this forum grown and popular, there are countless ways you could monetize it (more than just ads...)
If you end up running with this idea, do let me know! I might be able to lend a hand :)

If your highly profitable business idea / niche is good enough you wouldn't tell us all it for free in hopes someone else starts it. You'd do it yourself if you're confident in it enough!

Are you speaking of WSO? Also, Reddit exists. Hard to say, but I don't think people like sharing information about finance since it creates a herding effect.

I thin you've hit the nail on the head here. Sharing information about asset allocation, cheap fee offerings, undervalued stocks etc. all puts the sharer at a potential direct disadvantage.
