CSGO lagging, despite high FPS and low ping

Apologies if this is in the wrong section; I checked the rules but they did not mention anything about problems such as these in this section.

Anyway, recently, CSGO has been lagging a lot for me. I opened up task manager and saw it my CPU usage was spiking, and set my fps to max out at 100. My CPU then barely exceeded 50% then, but my game is still lagging. I was watching my FPS after setting it to max out at 100, and it rarely dropped below 90. I only saw it once dip into the 80s. My ping also doesn't seem to be causing the lag. It is always steadily hovering around 30.

Any ideas as to how to stop the lag? This has only been happening recently and I even completely reset my PC a few hours ago in hopes of fixing it.
I wouldn't consider 90-100 as a high fps, that's like the minimum for a fast-paced fps game like csgo.
Do you get lag in other games? Your issue reminds me of a drive issue. I often see people lagging with normal fps and low ping, due to drive issues, could be a failure, a fragmented drive or wrong drive setup.

No, I've played lots of other games problem free. Only lagging in csgo.

How would I go about fixing my drives?

Then its obvious a game issue, if it only happens with csgo

Do you know how I'd go about fixing this then?

In case you need this, I have an i5-6600, gtx 960, and 16 gb of ram

Csgo is strange. Even with a 240hz monitor, if i get anything under 300fps it feels "chunky" upgrade your gpu, 960 is so outdated it hurts, 10 serie isn't too expensive anymore, so you could grab one of those.

Anyway, try to delete every workshop map your not using, try delete every community made map and everything that's basicly not there when you install cs.

Long time ago some people mentioned that alot of items in your inventory (1000+) made them lag.

with your setup, make sure you got multi-threading on in video settings aswell. try and play on a 4:3 res, see if that helps aswell.

make sure you aint got any "anti-virus" (shit that really doesn't do anything worth while) running.
use something like Cclean to clean other stuff, but dont touch the reg-cleaner in there.

that's about it, really. Biggest upgrade you could do would be to your gpu and then you cpu really.
Cancer go is strange. I have few others problem with connection out of nowhere...

I had this problem aswell it had something to do with the headset I was using and csgo audio settings. Try taking off the headset and see if it works fine then you'll know thats the problem.

Yesterday I completely reset my computer and just downloaded CSGO so I should not have any community or workshop maps, just the bare game. I play and have always played in 4:3 and I do not have any antivirus, besides windows defender, which I will make sure has realtime scanning off.

I'm also playing on a new account with just a few hours that only has CSGO. Only like 4 items in my inventory.

Just tried playing a few rounds of casual with and without using my headset. I couldn't feel any lag while my headset was not turned on.

Now that I know that it is (likely) the problem, what should I do? I obviously need to be able to use my headset while playing.

I've also had this headset for over a year now, so I'm not sure why it'd start now.

By without headset you mean, unplugged? or just off of your head?

You mostlikely need to update your sound drivers.

Theres plenty of youtube videos how to fix it just google it. I'm busy atm cant link rn.
could be disk usage. sometimes windows update can really screw with things. so go to task manager and stop the delivery optimization stuff and the windows update module installer and then i think theres 2 more services but i dont remember their names
Thats just bs lmao. Im playing on a 750ti and i dont drop below 200fps even on 1080p.

There is no way you dont drop below 200fps playing MM or faceit, even with 2080ti It will dip below that, simple because cs is so shitty optimized on certain angles of the maps.

I'm on 2k res, NEVER getting lower than 200fps with my 2080ti.
