OP: I will start by saying that what you are asking is a University Website. Not only your request is highly illegal,but dangerous.
Assuming they are NOT using an upgraded version of joomla,take a look at the plugins. Tools like whatcms & joomscan can help you.
Good luck,i wouldn't touch it

I recommend CMSSeek. Really good tool for finding out vulns, issues and plugins for loads of CMSs.

While its good to share those vuln scanners, I would strongly advise OP against testing any of those on servers he don't own.

LOL You're not going to prison for hacking a basic wordpress website. No one cares about WordPress... As long as he uses a VPN, then he's fine. The FBI aren't going to arrest someone for using WPScan against some randy website kek
