Hey, I have been quiet lucky this last 5 months and been able to make around or over £1000 per month from mainly Ethereum Dapps. Also a bit from Tron dapps.
The key is to get in early during the pre-sales and the ones that FOMO you can manage to upto 10x your "investment" and get back out.
For example with a dapp called ZED (Horse racing simulation) on the Ethereum blockchain the initial Z1 Horses where selling for 0.4 Eth each. Only 500 in the 1st Z1 batch.. 2 months ago now, i managed to sell 3 or 4 of these at around 4 Eth each!
Another Dapp i did well with was 0xUniverse - purchased 2 Legendary planets at 3.2 Eth.. waited 2 months and sold them for around 12 Eth.
I got lucky with a Dapp called Crypto Assault in the presale I bought lots of units (tanks, helicopter, planes etc) and the initial pre-sale fund was partially given back out in Satellite drops.. I managed to win the biggest :P but also the Land Dividends where good.. the more sales the better the divs of course!
Megacryptopolis is another dapp.. (AMAZING) that I purchased a District for 14 Eth (12 months ago) and I have managed to ROI in Ethereum already with pretty much low activity (unfortunately) but the developers are releasing a new version soon.. so it should BOOM!! You should defo check this out.
I also did well with TronGoo :P - got in big and did well! Get in hard.. lol

I'd be interested in knowing which games you think would be worth pursuing from this point. I got in on cryptokitties and one of the planet based ones, and managed to make a k across both accounts after a few months of waiting, but I've never really known what to actually go for, or how to assign value to certain projects over others.

It is being in all the Discord channels and trying to get a feel for a Dapp really. Also the quality of the website the dapp devs create and the Whitepapers give massive clues. Also a bit of faith and patience is required. There are Dapps that take years to reach potential. Yes, it is possible to lose money or at least have lots of Ethereum tied up for months and months.. but many are doing well at this time.
One to look out for but it is not pre-sale stage exactly (been around for a while really but is stil Alpha stage) is Crypto Space Commander CSC) it recently partnered with the company who own StarTrek.. and you can roam around space atm looking for planets to mine etc.. the potential with this is huge. I am gutted I missed the pre-sale but I still have a few ships and many parts. The quick get in cheap - sell and profit is gone.. but the game itself has massive potential.
Unfortunately at this time, very little is being released on Ethereum that is catching my eye :(
There are many EOS Dapps being created though and other blockchains like Enjin are exciting and Loom.. they seem like next level stuff but still very early days.
It is just a matter of seeing the future potential.. seeing how many people are interested and going from there really.
So this is what I do.. check DappRadar for NEW dapps.. check the website and read the Whitebook/paper - see how active the Discord gets.. if a decent pre-sale discount, might try a few purchases.. - hope FOMO sets in.. cash out. (sometimes can be gutted to cash out and future potential could be greater)

Believe it or not I missed the CK boat.. I started with Dapps around May 2018.. I do now own 3 rubbish ones. It really depends on the Gen .. Check Opensea for prices..

Be very very carefull with crypto games.. The profit is great I made quick profit but lost it all lol
Also invested in a handful of Pre-ico whatever you there called and ended up being scams lmao. Like you say get in early you have a better change I thought that would work for me, Nope.

What crypto games did you try?
ICO's hmm I invested in a few.. not much and I am waiting patiently still 12 months later for a return!
With the Dapps/Games you need to do a lot of research before making a purchase..

First one I looked at was Crypto kitties, invested a bit into Aethia which is was very keen for & ethercraft.
Made some good profits outta crypto countries but that didn't end so well.
Over all I got fucken rekt by Dapps.

Not sure if you have ever tried an Ethereum Dapp? My reason for getting in was because i saw the potential in this new era of blockchain based gaming. it is yet to take off yet millions are flowing into them at this time. Check Dappradar for example on the amounts being spent on man y of these gaming dapps.
The reason i got into these: It started with megacryptopolis - a Sim City style game on the Ethereum blockchain.. i was like WOW.. this has amazing potential. Then I found other dapps from this one.. I am invested at different levels in around 20 so far..
You will look back on this thread in 6-12 months time and wonder why you asked this question :P
PS Good luck with your trading.. i am looking to trade again again soon and I defo need some decent signals ;) although the groups I used to be in didn't do to well for me :( It's all pure gambling ;)

Hmm you got into some bad dapps there.. except CK but you still needed to be in early witht hat ie Gen 0 Kittles to do any good.
Aethia I have heard of ages ago.. soon died! Ethercraft again i heard about it.. again it went away. they have come a lot further these last 12 months.

Okay, now I can see why you invested, Interesting. When I have time I will look into some of these

Ohhh just to add, I do explain exactly what I do in a later post.. i do my own research ;) ie Read the whitepapers, see the potential and I make £1000 per month, even in this bad market and a low Ethereum price! Say no more :) OHHH although yes I admit luck is still involved :/ - many of these dapps depend on a "buy a chest" and see what you get formula..

I am hoping to get back into trading.. I think the last 2 months the markets have been good for trading.. especially after the last 6 months or so of downtrend.. Good signals are essential for sure. For example I see a coin pump and then I get the email from binance stating the coin is being listed bla bla bla.. but too late!! So much earlier signals are great!

At this time.. i would say none are perfect timing.. ie nothing decent has a presale atm :( Hit a bit of a stalemate atm for a maximum return.
With MCP releasing a MCP3D https://www.megacryptopolis.com/ soon.. (next 3 months) there is a presale for "packs" but you will require land and buildings to utilize the packs.. and atm the land prices can be expensive. It created a barrier to entry.. although many are still getting in at this time..

it is slow at the moment due to the crossover period.. you can see all the stats and history on dappradar. The beauty of the blockchain is everything is recorded.. the Global Tax fund for example was at 200Ethereum once! Hopefully the new 3D gamemode can revive things and also improve things :)
CryptoAssault https://cryptoassault.io/ is one of my favourites.. but again this is in the same stage as MCP! A new Dev took over recently and is making improvements to the game.. if it all works out.. then this can be a decent game. Not sure about an investment opportunity right now though..
Crypto Space Commander https://www.csc-game.com/ this is one a lot of people are talking about.. has lots of potential.. but again the presale is over and maybe the largest quick gains are gone :(
