So you're looking for a Premium Spotify Account...
Turn ANY Spotify Account into an Ad-Free Account (Pseudo-Premium) : Guide
The options for obtaining a premium Spotify account are far from limited, and Google does little to hide those search results to the average user. Personally not being a fan of "Patched" software, or buying "Black-Market" premium accounts, I was surprised that not more people use the simple method of Host-File blocking.
What are : (" Host Files ");
- The hosts file is used in an operating system to map hostnames to IP addresses. The hosts file is a plain-text file and is traditionally named hosts. For various reasons it may be necessary to update the hosts file on your computer to properly resolve a web site by its domain name. In our case, we will reroute the correct domains to a local IP address. A Home-made Ad blocker!
Host File (Mac/PC) : (" Location ");
- In Windows
- Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Open the hosts file as administrator with your favorite text editor.
- Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
- In Mac
- Open Finder and in Finder’s menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder.
/private/etc/hosts
- Open Finder and in Finder’s menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder.

############## SPOTIFY - ADS - ENDVarious Explanations:
- 127·0·0·1 / 0·0·0·0
- These are local IP's that prevent your computer from contacting the sites (Primarily advertising domains)
- # 127·0·0·1 open.spotify.com
- This line is inactive (Indicated by the # in front) to allow spotify to work alongside Discord without crashing.
- ##############BLOCK UPDATES
- This section is used to prevent your spotify app from auto-updating to the latest version.
- 127·0·0·1 weblb-wg.gslb.spotify.com
- *If* you are having trouble signing into your account within the Spotify application, hash-out this line (#) and you'll be able to sign in. Reactive the line after you're successfully in your account by removing the # once again.
Various users report having no problems with the methods above. They get ad-free experienced on Spotify with unlimited skips, radio, and playlists all accessible. Offline downloading is not supported with this method!
Some users may report song freezing or occasional ads. It has been documented that using Spotify Version 1.0.64·399 fixes all rare errors. Thus the auto-update block was implemented along side the ad-block.
EXTRA
Host Files are a mere introduction to what is possible and surely can be seen as a trivial file edit. People have released countless lists that are constantly being updated with domains that allow you to have an ad-free experience on YouTube, Twitch, FaceBook, Various Sites and Apps and more. These lists can be implemented into popular browser ad-blocks such as ABP+ to enhance their ad-blocking abilities.
However, I do want to leave readers with an interesting topic to research. While host files simply reroute local traffic, packet sniffing and spoofing is a much more fun and interesting topic. You are able to obtain, pause, edit, and then send the packets of information to it's original source! Lots of fun things can be done with such methods and I encourage people to learn more about it!
