a local website to execute a local program.

hello hf!
anyone know how to execute any local program using html?
it's like this steam client bootstrap: example here:

i think there should be a registry key or a running services to execute steam when i click the button.
anyone has any idea? i can tip some $$
thanks!
If the program has registered a URL handler you can call it with it's URL Scheme which will launch the program,
Look into URL schemes (URL Scheme Intro for App Developers)

Steam registers it's own handler so you can launch games for example and do a bunch of other things https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki...r_protocol
Code
// This opens CSGO, in your html you could set this as href to an anchor tag or via JS
steam://rungameid/730
