Hi, I have a VPS server and I am running a scraper here (public torrent scraper), now my server provider giving me abuse report for port scanning but I am not doing port scanning (my scraper collecting torrent info from public tracker), someone suggested me to use a VPN for hiding my IP for scrapping, can anyone please guide me how can I do this?

I would opt to use https://github.com/dgoulet/torsocks to force your application to make all requests through Tor. It should be enough to hide whatever it is you're doing from your ISP.

Can you please confirm if torsocks work with UDP connection also?

It cannot do UDP @__M__
"This process is transparent to the user and if torsocks detects any communication that can't go through the Tor network such as UDP traffic, for instance, the connection is denied"

Hey mate I suggest you to use a bulletproof server that allow port scanning and torrent or like that. if you interested I can help you .
about port scan on your current server you can close some ports may be it would be better
Tor is extremely slow for this purpose. Better buy a good SOCKS or get a VPN that supports socks. A lot of good VPNs support socks servers.

Thanks for this

Depending on application, it is probably better to use a socks server. VPNs can lead to connection problems when crashing. Although some providers provice access even if the server is not reachable. But not a lot of providers do that.
If you want to use socks, download Proxifier and add the application to the proxification rules. Then get a VPN which supports socks and you're ready to go. If you decide to go with VPN, then just get something cheap. But be sure that the VPN provider doesn't suck. A lot of providers keep logs and they will ban you for excessive traffic usage.

I think it's better to use proxy within your scraper
My suggestion is to use hosting company what allow scrapping. So no need hide IP to avoid suspension.

Can you tell which provider is good? I am using Intel Xeon E3-1246V3, 32GB Ram, 4TB SATA HD for 33 Euro.
It sounds like OVH/SyS/Kimsufi, so even you hide your Server IP... They will still send you this "Abuse Reports".
Its their Anti-Hack System which detects that within your traffic. No need to hide it. They will still see it. Because this anti-hack system is there to prevent such things which are against the tos.

Yes its hetzner, someone give me some iptables rules and told he never get abuse report after using these, for example
iptables -A OUTPUT -p udp -s 0/0 -d 192.88.99.0/24 -j DROP
Do you think this is right?
