Indian coder scammed me. Yes or no?

Well imma make this text short.

I got in touch with a indian company that I explained what I needed

IOS&Android app and I told them exactly everything I wanted and so on..

They checked the code and got back to me with an amount we both agreed on 1300 USD.

The job was supposed to be done within 100 hours of jobtime 50 hours on each app.

After the project was delayed with 2 weeks I started to get worried because there were always buggs and shit.

Then the worst thing that happened was when they started to ask more money and the reason can be found below:

Spoiler (Click to View)

So yea as you can see according to them it will take another 200 hours to complete the IOS and that will cost me 2000 USD. Do you guys consider this as a scam or does this kind of shit happens in the coding world??
not normal in the coding world, you certainly got scammed! if you agreed on terms, and they did not uphold, then they are screwing you over.

always pay a small amount upfront or use an escrow service! if people deny escrow they are likely trying to screw you over
Any reason you tried to get this from an Indian company? Just tryna save a few $?

The bitch told me that if we used Twago escrow it would cost fees and I was stupid enough to pay without Escrow, can I contact my bank to reverse the payment?

A few? Theres a huge difference between Indians and Europeans prices when it comes to coding.

Only way to find out is by asking your bank

and it is worth paying fees to make sure your money is safe IMO, but I have done same as you before

Yeah but I though that they would not do this since they had good reviews and they are a legit company.

Nah I dont think theres a huge difference in quality to be honest.

Is there a mystery as to why this is the case? I'm Indian myself, and I can attest that they're retarded when it comes to coding.

You learned your lesson. Sorry that it cost $1,300 to do so.

Basically the quote was completely off. Industry standard can be 30% more but yours was over 200%.

Also this company seems like the kind that will hold your code hostage and charge you an arm and leg for modifications...

with my 10+ years experience I can tell you there is, also majority of indian companies I have hired ended up being scammers
I mean the project manager was kinda nice, he told me that he feel sorry for me and informed me to contact the person who first coded the apps for me and that it might be cheaper to go through them, if not i should get back to him thats what he said.
Not normal. politely ask them to abide by the agreement you guys had. If they deny it, then go talk to a lawyer or go to your bank, however you paid them, to reverse the payment.

If they decide to not politely comply, just verbally tell them to go ahead with the work and to consider the initial $1300 as the down payment to go ahead. Once they are done, convince them to send you some of the work or most of it so you can make sure this time. Since they were trying to pull a fast one with you, just take the work and stop replying to them.

Its a very scummy thing to do, but some times you gotta go into scum to fight people like that.

The only thing they referr too is that the code is not good and that they have already spent a lot of hours ont he Android and that the 50 hours they though it would take for IOS is not 50 anymore its 200.

They still have the source code and I am not sure if its a good idea to scam someone that has your source code.

How big is the chance that my bank would do something about this if I explained this situation for them?
MavenGradle is a cheap indian, but he wouldn't have done you like this. Rip you dude

As soon as I read "Indian" I knew it was going to be a scam related thread.

So, you're telling me that the literal word "scam" in the thread title didn't play any role in your thought process?
