So I used to have a Donation Page for my servers a while ago, and recently someone has been spamming $3 transactions to it ($24 in total has come through)

I walked around wondering wtf is going on for two days until I checked my Stripe account and guess what? Over 100 attempted transactions have been blocked from the same person on DIFFERENT credit cards, the few transactions that went through were all from different credit cards too!


My question is, can I get in trouble if some idiot is testing carded credit cards on my donation page? What can I do about this?

Hmmmm well honestly it will look suspicious on your end if anything comes up. I would try to report it somehow just so they know it wasnt you doing it. At the end of the day though you won't get in trouble even if they did decide to look into it because whoever is using it as not connected to you whatsoever and they'd be able to see that

Shut down your credit processor (disable any link) and email their support immediately and explain what is going on.

Wouldn't take any drastic action (like shutting down the payment system) but just contact Stripe to explain what is happening.

Meh, don't feel too bad for them. It sucks for them but they'll have their money fully refunded and hopefully they'll be more careful with their credit card details in the future!!

iv had to deal with this on one of my sites as well just contact support. literally nothing you can do and you wont get in trouble if you really did nothing wrong.

Stripe usually handles these things with care and as these things happen so frequently, I doubt they'll do anything that will affect your account. Regardless, you should be cautious as to who you're receiving money from for the time being and be sure to stay in contact with Stripe as this is an issue that you quite simply can't do anything about.
