Policy Question

GDPR [Directly to OMNI]

Hi there,

My account was unfortunately closed for whatever reasons, would you please be able to send me the PM you've sent me on my previous account here? Is there an email which I can contact you through? something?

I'm very interested in knowing the legal obligation you have. Could you please cite the specific obligation for yours? And how the necessity applies to each piece of personal data.

I'm not here to troll or make any dumbshit around, do you have an email we can talk through? That'd be better for me than using HF.

Even if you would be legally forced, i see no reason for you to keep those data for so long, is it really necessary, 5+ years old login logs? Answer yourself.

GDPR also forces a company to minimise/anonymise the collected data, so even if you are legally obligated to keep those information, you are forced under the GDPR law to minimise/anonymise that as I've said an example, hiding the last 3 digits of the IP address. This applies to only visitors from the European Union.

Also keep in mind, gdpr-info.eu site is not an official site of the European Union. I'm not saying that the information are false here but be careful what can you find here.

Thank you,
Chook.

You agreed to it. It explains everything.

Agreed or not, it doesn't give anyone exception for the Law.

Just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it’s illegal.

Understand what? Understand the terms?
The terms became irrelevant because a law is something higher, above all of it.

It doesn't make any exceptions not to anonymise/minimise data collection, (IP etc) The Company or HF still has to follow the Law.
If you are so concerned why even bother registering in the fucking first place?

Omniscient is able to keep your data for 7+ years if it contained anything regarding payment(s). If not, he is still able to keep your data for legal matters if or when they will request for such. This is as far as my concern. I think using the contact page is the best answer for you 🤝

You are right, when it comes to financial records. That's understandable.
But not when it comes to my authentication logs, old emails of my account and such for that long, I mean, Omniscient said he has a legal obligation to keep those, but I wonder what legal obligation is it and if he can provide more information about. There is no obligation in US that would specify that, I'm not aware, but as again, I don't know, this is my only question.

But even if he has legal obligation, he has to keep as minimal data as possible for clients from the EU (if requested). That's what the GDPR says, no exceptions.

Omni is also legally allowed to collect and keep data for legal matters, but there has to be active subponea / on-going case of you account. (That's right but it doesn't apply when there is no on-going case)

I mean, not even major services (Google, Reddit) are allowed to keep you data for that long and if you request it, they are required to minimise it, anonymise it after some time passed.
This is how you get something banned. Some entitled euro fag now worried about the information he has out on the internet.
