Somebody is attacking my website.

He caused a 503: Service Unavailable error and a 500 error I believe. Now he is contacting me, acting like a website doctor. For $400 he promises me to help me protect my website. He claims to be a Russian and this looks to be like a kompromat action. Does he have access to my files? Is this attack harmful or is it just a DDOS attack?

Do you have access to the website server logs? If so, check them so you can assure its just a dos/ddos attack or not.
You could try cloudflare or any similar services to protect your site from those kind of attacks
