Programmers: what tricks do you have for better code?

Everyone is trying to fit as much stuff into their heads as possible. I, for
one, am a big fan of having a notepad out while programming, so I can try out
different ideas, draw things, etc.

What do you do?
don't fall for impersonators
no blackhat, stop asking

My strong side is that my code is cleaner than your panties OP

I hear the phrase, "make sure something works before you make it better" all the time around here. I'm more concerned with writing something that works than sit around wondering if I'm writing good code or not, lol.

Dude why you negged me? Dude i wasted time to reply in your thread so you should appreciate it
I divide the programs into smaller parts and combine each other
I just can't program using something physical. I do everything just on my desktop, and for complex databases I use an ERD diagram. For complex classes I use a class diagram.
i like to have a mental picture of an assembly line, one found in (for example) a factory. i also love having a notepad, just to jot down random phrases and scribbles that i use to jog my memory a bit or remember values et cetera. im constantly in the design and planning phase of writing a program, i like to make sure that i know exactly what im doing before i write any spaghetti code.
I remake programs, particularly on subjects which I don’t know too much about so I can expand my knowledge.

One big advice : universal codes. See what parts of your code can be used again in other project and make a function out of them.
50% of my bots are functions I already made in the past. I just copy paste them and build around. Saves a lot of time.
I like to read other people's code to get an understanding of how things are done. I learn from visual examples.
